FP and Interbase - 3/2/2001 23:59:00
I'm using Interbase 5.6 with an InterSolv ODBC driver as a backend for my web development. I have been sucessful in generating queries which pull data and post it. However, I am having a problem sending data from a form to the database. After creating a test table in Interbase and creating a form in which to send information to this table....I receive a "successful post" message, but no data is being inserted into the table. This is rather annoying as there is no error message of any sort. The form is set up to send info to the correct database using DNS, to the correct table, and the mappings of form names to table names are correct as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No custom confirmations - I left this produce the default response in hopes of generating an error message or something more helpful. Interbase, as most other databases require an "insert" command to input data. SQL statements are easy to discern when producing database results, but where is this SQL statement when sending form information?? I assume it's imbedding within the webbot coding....but just wondering how this works as I am relativly new to ASP coming from a CGI environment.

The actual "post to database" function is completely reliant on the web bot, an option would be to use the DRW (custom sql step 2) to update / add a record instead. This may produce different results again, and the SQL can be entered by you. But at lease the SQL is visable, and you can always modify it more easily than the web bots ------------------ Spooky "I am Spooky of Borg. Prepare to be assimilated, babycakes!"
