translate for greater accessibility - 8/1/2002 13:40:56
The site i' m working on has a resource directory with 400+ pages. My first task was to find a way to translate them to spanish. Check out how they came out:

http://www.frc.merced.k12.ca.us/frcweb/crd.htm

I used Systran software to translate and it works great. If you would like to reach more people then you can do something like this. I just wanted to share this with all of you.

I haven´t looked in detail, but the translations look pretty good. My Spanish isn´t great but after 9 months in Mexico I start formal lessons on Monday........ask Luna´s opinion, she´s the expert, an ex-pat Mexican!

Hi
It’s impossible to find a perfect program for translations, this one did a pretty good job, most of the translation can be understood, but the words are not the right ones in some sentences, which can originate some confusion. I do not have the time right now to go through the whole translation, but here are some examples of the errors I found:

Clasificaciones Del Servicio: correct: Clasificación de Servicios

Abrigo De las Mujeres Estropeadas
correct: Albergue para mujeres maltratadas

Abrigo De la Crisis Estropicio De los Teléfonos directos correct: Línea directa para el Albergue de Crisis

Abrigo means: coat Estropeadas means: damaged etc. so these words are not correct.

If you want me to help you with the translation let me know.

Monica
