I am using Microsoft Access and FrontPage 200. Now I just want to get this one thing solved. What I want to do is this:
- The user goes to a page with a search box on it.
- Then the user types in the name of a product he wants to search for.
- He clicks "Submit."
- A database is searched in a particular field for anything that is like what the user types in.
- After the user clicks "Submit," he is taken to another page where results of his search are displayed as rows in a table with appropriate headings that correspond to the database field headings.
This is all I want to do right now. I have read tutorials, books, and CDs. They all tell me to do basically the same thing and I have followed all the instructions to a "T." Still, nothing works. I had someone tell me something about drivers. Do I need to install something to get this to work?
I have made the search box and I have followed the steps carefully in the Database Results Wizard to make the page where the results are displayed. I was wondering. The name of the text box where the user types in what he wants to search for has a name of "T1" that I saw in the html coding part of the page. When I go under "Criteria" for the Database Results Wizart properties, there is a box labled "Value." I typed in the name "T1" and thought that might be the answer to my problems. I don't know why, but I thought it would work. It didn't.
So, there's my problem. I'm sure it's something very simple that I'm overlooking, but I can't figure it out.
Could someone please help me by telling me very carefully with lots of details what to do. And if you are using a term that you think a newbie would be confused about, can you define it in layman's terms?
Thank you in advance,
Gandalf
