Problems Collecting Data - 3/12/2001 20:33:00
I'm trying to get to grips with collecting data into an Access database which was created automatically by FrontPage...things aren't working and maybe you can help.

I've set up a very basic site to help me/us work through this at http://lazyboneholidays.freeyellow.com/

Upon putting together the InputForm, I've selected Form Properties, Send to Database, followed by Options, Create Database.

I've created Confirmation.htm and Error.htm and linked these up from the same section that allowed me to create the database.

The Table to hold the Form Results, is called Results.

Upon saving the page I was prompted to save it as a .asp file which I've done.

The Problem?
When using the .asp version I simply get presented with a load of script.

When using the .htm version I get an error message:
"Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions' Smart HTML interpreter on this non-HTML page: "http://lazyboneholidays.freeyellow.com/Formv2.htm"

Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Richard

Hi Richard,
to be able to use Active Server Pages you need a windows server running IIS, or an Apache server running Chilisoft. It looks like the free service you are running is neither of these.
www.brinkster.com is a free service running windows servers. All these free services have some restriction or other, so look carefully to see it suits your needs.

All the best

Vince
