Best, Better and Good. Taking Pictures that I know for sure that I' m going to be using on a web page, would the Good setting be the one that I would use? Usually the lowest setting is going to take a 640 x 480 - 72 dpi photo... the higher the setting the larger the picture, but it' s still at 72 dpi resolution. To answer your question: It depends on how big you want the picture to be on your site. Take a pic at each size, then drop it into a photo editor and see what the pixel width and height are... this will tell you how big the pictures are at each setting (the manual that came with the camera may also tell you) If you want bigger pictures, use a bigger setting... The 72 dpi is the same resolution as a computer monitor, so it' s ideal. If you' re going to print the photos, use the highest setting and in your photo editor change the resolution to 300 dpi (which will generally reduce the picture size by about 5x) Just remember that it' s always easier to make a picture smaller than to go bigger... so if you don' t want to bother with it, take the " Best" pictures and you can always size them down later... Right now I use the middle setting for those that I take to print. I was just wondering if there was a difference with taking them for web pictures. Never thought about the 72dpi being 72dpi when you web ready them duh land. My hobby is photograhy and I made this site because people are always asking me about digital cameras, both before and after they purchase one. I don' t know how many 72 dpi pics I printed, cursing my inkjet along the way, before I figured out the resolution factor... then it took me a few more tries to figure out that making a little picture bigger only enlarged the pixels... they looked terrible!!!
