jviar -> Spooky Login using subwebs (3/14/2001 20:54:00)

I'm trying set up two different password protected areas of a site using the Spooky login. I've read in the forum that I should be able to do that by using two subwebs.

So I've set up the two subwebs and can't get the separate sections to direct to separate pages. I set the settings for each, and both logins direct to whatever success page I set up last. Suggestions please?

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, the login will only work within 1 web (or 1 sub web)

The reason for this is the server variables wont transfer from one web to the other.
It is possible to use the same database and a full copy of all pages in both webs, but you would have to use the same settings for both webs.

Realistically, they become 2 seperate login systems as you are working on what is really 2 webs.

Sorry Spooky. I'm still a little confused. Maybe I should explain what I've done a little better.

Right now I have two subwebs set up that each contain a full copy of all the pages for the login system. I have two databases in the fpdb folder, one for each of the systems.

Are you saying that there's no way to have two sections protected using different settings and different databases? I think I'm confused because then there would be no reason for a subweb at all, right?

Do you have each database in its seperate sub web?
Im successfully running /subweb1 and /subweb2 with 2 totally different settings here.
What seems to be duplicated?

That's it! I didn't have the databases in the subwebs. BAD oversight, I realize.

Everything works fine now. Thanks so much!

Jennifer
