What is up with my site? - 8/11/2002 16:22:17
Can you check out my site for problems.
The pages seem to flash when you move from one page to another, but maybe that is just my browser.
Also, I see the little [FrontPage results component] on any of my Contact Us pages. To my knowlege my host has fp extensions on it. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to configure the extensions on my computer too? I am not sure how to do that.

Thanks

Hi webbedfeet,

(Note for others viewing site, please see prior critiques at: http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/tm.asp?m=82848&appid=&p=&mpage=1&key=&language=&tmode=&s=#82848 )

(1) You still have the broken graphics link - i.e. the link is to your computer' s hard drive on both your Home and Links pages.

(2) Broken links to your Biography and Candidates pages.

(3) I did not see any " flashing" between pages.

(4) I don' t understand what you mean by the " FrontPage results component" . I did not see anything.

Try running your site here: http://www.anybrowser.com/siteviewer.html

John

P.S.
I spent 15 years with Burroughs in the 1970' s and 1980' s and made many, many trips to our division and group headquarters on University Avenue in Rochester, NY. The country outside of the city was extremely beautiful.

I think I fixed all of those things, thank you.
I am just confused that the people I made this for can' t see the picture on their computer, even though I can on mine.
Are you seeing the headshot on your browser?
I tried to make think link to the pic relative, but it keeps reverting back to looking at my local directory.

What am I supposed to do?
Besides for that, what do you think of the site?
Thank you all so much. You have taught me so much with FP.

FYI -- the file for what I think is the headshot is file:///C:/My%20Documents/Candidate%20Web%20Sites/Aldersley/images/webheadshot.jpg

You need to save it to your website.

Also, try not to put pages that say " coming soon" or " under construction" . Just don' t link to the page until it is finished.

I do see the FrontPage results component error... publish a hard copy of your site and ask your host to install extensions, or to verify they are installed, and repub.

Also, with the site open, go to VIEW -> REPORTS -> SITE SUMMARY to see which links are broken, etc.

Courtney,

The images are still referring to your hard drive:
<img border=" 0" src=" file:///C:/My%20Documents/Candidate%20Web%20Sites/Aldersley/images/webheadshot.jpg

Delete your currend image and Place your insertion pointer at the location on the page, and choose Picture from the Insert menu, and choose From File, then near the lower right corner of the dialog box, chose the icon that is titled Select a File from your computer when you hover over it. In the Select File dialog box locate the image on your hard drive and choose OK.

Save this page and if the image is not to be saved in the images folder, choose Change Folder and choose the images folder. When you next Publish your site the image will be placed on the server and your link will be correct.

Thanks for your replies. The site is being given to someone else to take care of. Again, thank you anyway.
