Just finishing up a site and would like some constructive criticism. The client wanted a colorful kid-oriented site...so hopefully this site fit' s the bill! I am especially concerned with the amount of time it is taking for the image roll-over navigation buttons. Well, thanks in advanced here is the site:

Thanks, Rita

the rollovers took less than 1 sec on cable broadband.

I found the first page rather long? Otherwise I think you reached your objective

The roll-over images do take a long time, but I don' t think it' s that big of a deal. I agree with Micah that the home page is too long.

As for my own comments, I think the colours are too pale for a kids' page. The animal images down the right side have the right idea (all bright colours), but the header and the left border both use fairly pale colours. Maybe you could try to brighten these up.

The roar scare the crap outta me! I had soothing music on loud. Bummer.

I liked it ...
The roll overs only had a slight delay the first time over on my dial-up connection. Liked the colors and the graphics design. However it didn' t seem to be directed towards kids, but retailers/corporate clients ... which is still ok, the theme still works fine. Good Job.

Great clean layout. Clear pics. Took a few for the rollovers with my cable modem.

Maybe it' s just me, but I would love to see arial, helvetica or trebuchet or maybe even a tahoma or verdana font in there. Comic Sans is great and kid-like, but not a lot of kids are going to rush out to buy anything.

Also, there is a whole lot of clicking... When I go to ordering, I get info and then I click and click. And it says that online ordering is coming soon, but it also says it is now available, but I can' t find where to order online and man am I frustrated.

When I go to products, being online, I am assuming that from a list of products I can order directly off the product page, not look at products, go to ordering, then go to purchase products online and then add to my cart.

Good job!

I had the same problems as smcfarland describe. Maybe an altenative to the product selection would be two options. One where they can go through all the pictures. Another where they can just go to ordering.

My 3 cents.

Not bad, but not overly impressive either. There is some wasted space, in my opinion, in the upper lefthand corner, and I had a 2 inch vertical white stripe on the right side of the page. Also, it may just be me but some of the pictures were a little fuzzy.

Not a bad start, but still some work to do.

Good luck

Rita,

Nice work.

Looked Using IE 5 on a dialup and I didn' t notice any serious lag.

I agree with Matty about the pale colors. For a kids site, I think you need bright colors.

I didn' t get any alt-text for the top banner but I got it for all the other graphics. :)

Just out of curiousity, why did you disable right click?

Tony

EWD, I missed the roar!
