Subweb Problems - 4/16/2001 20:32:00
OK, I have tried to find the answer by searching, but I have terrible luck with this sites search feature. So forgive me please if this is covered elswhere. My problem is that I am unable to use shared borders successfully in a subweb. The subweb keeps wanting to use the shared borders of the parent web. It works when I recalculate the links while working in the subweb only, but as soon as i publish, I lose my left border in the subweb. It keeps wanting to display the parent webs left border for pages located within the subweb. I did find one post here in which it was advised to use an include page, but I am unfamiliar with them and seem to be having trouble getting a left sided menu to appear in the pages of this subweb even while trying to go with an include page. It is currently an intranet so I am unable to even post the URL for you. Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.DNG

You are creating your sub web in a folder inside the main webs' folder, right? Are you sharing things between folders? Like the navigation view?

RE: Subweb Problems - 4/16/2001 20:17:00
Actually I was unable to create the subweb within the parent web because it kept telling me that the parent web was not a disk based web or something to that effect. So I created and saved the web in a new FP window, dragged in into the parent web folder and went from there. Go ahead, tell me this is my problem. (DOH!) It even sounded bad to me as I was typing it. I'm not sure what else I was to do. When I go to FILE/NEW/WEB it shows a list of the webs I have but not the parent web. I type in the path to create it within the parent web but it tells me it cannot do it that way. When I choose ADD TO CURRENT WEB it shows a prompt window saying that " The file you submitted Home Page already exists. It was last modified...... Do you want to replace this with your file?" Even when I choose YES, I cannot find the subweb in the parent web. It has worked without any problems so far, up until this shared border thing. Thanks in advance for any help.... again. Da New Guy
