Any experience with FP2002 on non-Sharepoint web hosts? - 8/25/2002 11:07:59
Does anyone have any experience in the limits of FP2002' s new features, when it is not hosted on a Sharepoint-capable site?

e.g. in FP2000, it didn' t need Sharepoint.

Therefore, for the Guestbooks and Discussion boards created by the Wizards in FP2002, are they all non-functional unless there is Sharepoint, or is there a limited amount of functionality.

I' m asking this because I have FP2000, and hesitate to upgrade to FP2002, because of the limited number of web hosts that have Sharepoint, and, for those that do, the higher costs for hosting.

i.e. should I upgrade to FP2002?

Most of FP 2002 new features just requires the 2002 extensions and are NOT really dependent on Sharepoint services. http://www.microsoft.com/sharepoint/

Unless you have a specific need for Sharepoint services I would not worry to much about it not being available from you web host.

The features that I really need, which seem to be SHAREPPOINT-dependent, are Discussion Boards, Guestbooks and Submit-comments pages.
