Configuring FPSEs for email - 8/29/2002 21:40:02
I am running Windows 2000 Pro with IIS. I have created a Server Extensions Web called intellertWeb under My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Internet Information Services > Default Website. In the Properties of intellertWeb under the Server Extensions tab, there are no controls for configuring email options for the extended web. Why? In other words, I am unable to configure my Server Extensions web to use email. -- Jim Rice P.S. There ARE controls for configuring email one folder up at the Default Website.

My recollection of FP2000 extensions is that there is an ini file you need to edit to enable mail. There you identify the server address and the email address you send as. Look for the SERK (server extensions resource kit) on the MS website, that' s where I found the instructions when I set up mail on a server. I' m not using the FP2002 extensions, they may be different.

Hi Jim, From the 2000 extension SERK... quote:
Setting E-mail Options Some features require that e-mail be sent to site visitors who browse that web. An example of such a feature is an e-mail form handler. To enable these features to send e-mail, you need to specify the Web server' s mail address, a contact address, an SMTP host, a mail-encoding scheme, and a mail character set. In the console tree, right-click the root web for which you want to set e-mail options. Click Properties on the shortcut menu, and then click the Server Extensions tab. In the Options box, click Settings. Enter the settings you want. http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/frontpage/wpp/serk/admmc_2.htm Setting the mail options for the root web will aslo affect the virtual webs below it, so you are on the right track.
