ASP shopping cart - 3/25/2001 20:33:00

Has anyone on here got good ideas on how to use ASP for shopping carts? I've managed to get a lot of ASP going, and now it seems like I may be able to work with good code examples to finagle something. My main complication is that it's a collectibles site, so there is no "stock," really; every item is only for sale once. So, I'd want to make it all based on queries that look at a table w/ current inventory in it.

Any good code out there, or people willing to work with me some?

Personally, depending on the level you need, I wouldnt even consider building one myself either. It would take more time than is worth to end up with something thats already available (in reply to Botcollector)

Thanks for the suggestion, Spooky. I'm wondering if you have any detailed opinions, like have you manipulated any of the source code? Would it be a useful cart for me to use if I want to incorporate it into an existing ASP DRW-return store? I sell collectibles, so no item would ever be "stock," it's all one-time sold and then that's it, I need to remove it from underlying Access table.

Right now my items are looked up by category based on user's clicks that run DRW queries. Will I be able to keep that and just integrate the shopping cart into it? Or will I have to abandon all of my current product pages/queries, etc. and use the cart's software to make a new store? If you have the time, can you see if you think it would go well in a Botcollector environment?

That's one area. Click on MIB Autobots to see how items are returned. Think I can use the cart you suggest with all this? Especially important is to retain capability for multiple pics per item (but not same number of pics for every item; I use a query to return records in a Pic table based on Item ID).

If you don't have the time for such an extensive review, no problem. I'd appreciate any input, also, though.

We are using it at the moment for the template sales (up top) which is running on SQL.
We tried it without good success on Access.
As far as customising goes, the basic concept is rather easy as you only need to replace header and footer, but any other code changes require a lot of searching through functions, include pages etc.
The majority of setup options are contained within a single config file and there are a lot!
They do have a free demo as well I think?
It ties in well to authorize.net and there are other options available. Support has been excellent.
Id just be wary of trying to customize it too much as you are tied into their basic formatting (which is fairly flexible anyhow)
