Do I need the spooky login? - 3/27/2001 20:16:00
OK, I'm a bit excited.

Using the advice on this site I've managed to set up my recruitment web site so that the vacancies are stored in an access db, and the vacancies page is an asp which brings up all the vacancies. As if that wasn't enough, I've set up an update.asp page which allows consultants to update the database online. Cool. This is important because my consultants could be anywhere in the country, and also it takes the admin of posting jobs away from me.

However, I don't want anyone to be able to use that update.asp page, or all my competitors (and small boys with nothing better to do) will just post rubbish up there. So I need to restrict rights to that page.

Can I do it through any easy method you can think of, or do I need Spooky's login?

Thanks for all your help so far. I'm amazed at what I've achieved to date with your help.

So Im biased

Step 1 perhaps, would be to decide if you want an asp based solution. You could request your host provides a secure subweb and you hand out the single password for that, or get your host to add new logins for each client as you go.
You are very reliant on your host to do this, whereas a web based solution allows you to do it

Ok, so I'm ready to buy!

One question before I do. All that "Zip code" and "State" stuff. Can I Anglicise it so it says "post code" and "county" instead?

Yep, 90% of all text is in the one file, so its easier to change it all there without searhing through code
