Spooky login.asp Problem - 3/28/2001 23:03:00
I have no idea what happened. When I went to my website today, I couldn't get into the password protected area. When I tried to go to http://www.bmg-media.com/events/Event_copy(1).asp the following error came up:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x554 Thread 0x6d8 DBC 0x1d31014 Jet'.

/events/login.asp, line 102

I haven't made any changes to the login.asp page. I uploaded a backup copy of the page, and got the same results. Anybody know what could be wrong?

P.S. I also use the login for another portion of the website, and it's working fine there.

Have you used it on this website before?
First thing I would do, is download the database, compact and repair it, then upload it.

Yes, I've been using it for 4 1/2 months and never had any problems. This just popped up this morning.

I tried to repair the database, however, when I went to open/repair it in Access, I got a message saying that the database was created in an earlier version of Access. I went to convert the database, but that option is greyed out. (I'm a total dummy when it comes to databases--it's a wonder I got the spooky login figured out at all!). Any suggestions?

Failing that, contact your host as it may be a permissions problem.
ie - the server cant modify the registry key.

Its certainly at the server level, but sometimes can be cured at the database.

Email me the database if you want to compact it, Im not sure why yours cant be done?

You're right--it must have been a problem with the server. When I came in this morning, everything was working perfectly. I was glad to see it wasn't anything I did! Thanks for all your help.
