Hi all, Hi Spooky,

Please check http://www.frontpagedatabase.com. This forum has been hacked today. I don' t know why the hackers were interested in a site that offers help like here.

Would you please Spooky backup this valuable web design reference (this forum) and beware of the hackers.

The hackers as you see in the hacked site, call themselves MKTR hackers.

Regards
Hisham

bobby -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 12:24:16)

Some people are very bored.

[>:]

Hacking a site like that is like keying someones car... pointless, cowardly, and juvinile.

pisses me off

Long Island Lune -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 12:39:58)

EGO' s too.
They even signed it " MKTR hackers" .
Nice...

bobby -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 12:54:33)

such cleaver young vandals...

hhammash -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 13:19:12)

Hi,

I checked the site now, it is open again, they have gone.

These forums are very helpful to people who are trying to learn and trying to work hard, there are lot of people here who spend much time of their day trying to help others and discuss problems.

As you all said, it is bad and cowardly.

Regards
Hisham

Well people always say take pride in your work. I guess that includes Hackers.

I am actually reading a book by J D Robb where a computer virus is able to infect humans. Pretty good if I say so myself.

erinatkins,

With all the germs around today, it wouldn' t surprise me. It' s just a matter of time before we' re ALL infected...

MAD COW COMPUTER..

Mike54 -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 16:20:22)

Glad they got it back on line. It' s just beyond me why people feel the need to disrupt other peoples lives with BS.[:j]

Spooky -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 16:24:14)

Check the latest version of Snitz if you want a more secure forum.
I see you/they are still running 3.03?

hhammash -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 17:02:43)

Hi Spooky,

I will check the new forum version of Snitz
[8D](how did you know that I am interested in Snitz forums)?

Anyhow, I know that they are working now, the Index page only was taken over for few hours, but the forum was not, you had to type the full address to reach the forum but the main page was taken.

Thanks spooky
Hisham

PS: Did you take a look at my Link to a specific ..... post?

Spooky -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 17:22:29)

Ok, so the site was hacked, not the forum?
I sounds like the same hackers that Micha has had on his site too.
Same host? [:j]

Where? :)

hhammash -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 17:27:55)

Hi spooky,

Just a question, I know the answer, but I want to read it from you.

Are you applying tight security on your sites, and are you backing up this valuable database all the time.

I mean the site and this forum. (they both became the resource for Frontpage and ASP). Even when you search in Google for DRW your site comes first.

I asked because I am interested a lot.

Regards
Hisham

Spooky -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 17:40:55)

Yep, the database gets backed up often.
I either run an update to a local SQL server or export an entire copy of the database to my local drive.

The database is about 150mb at the moment, so theres a lot of info hidden away there :-)

Dont attempt that with a modem [;)]

hhammash -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 17:58:39)

Hi spooky,

Good to hear that.

Is my Link to specified location ... post hopeless???[:D] [:D] [:D]
Hope Not [:(]

Hisham

hhammash -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 18:08:04)

Are you using the same name there?

I am also a member in FrontpageDatabase

yes, same name - that' s quite worrying

hhammash -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 19:44:33)

Thanks Micah.

J-man -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/6/2002 20:30:13)

WO NELLY... please tell what isp you are using....

Eli -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/7/2002 4:33:13)

this is worrying - and should worry anyone else that is at frontpagedatabse.

for what reason? Well, maybe you' re not as dumb as me ... but I used the same ftp password on my site as I do for frontpagedatabse.
is it possible that they hacked frontpagedatabse first, found my password, and got lucky?

I have changed ALL my passwords now. (which took FOREVER) !

if you want to know my host please email me

hhammash -> RE: Hackers!! Hackers!! (Spooky) (9/7/2002 6:23:54)

Hi Micah,

Thanks a lot for this note, it is very important, may be this is the reason why they hacked the page.

Anyhow I use different passwords from those I use for my website, ftp, email ...etc.

Thanks a lot for this note.

Why don' t you post it in Frontpagedatabase. Or shall I post it in your name (to preserve the copyright [:D])

Regards
Hisham
