Database Results Error - 3/30/2001 20:30:00
I have three problems. The first problem is when I search the datebase I get an error after I created the search form through frontpage result wizard. The error is : [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x598 Thread 0x914 DBC 0x293e024 Jet'. I think the error deals with running it through a local intranet and the IIS I am using. The second error I have is when I created a form and I try to submit it to the datebase nothing is submitted. All the fields are linked up correctly because I have had this work on other web servers. The third error is when I write to a datebase using a different web server it says the datebase is read only. I have no idea how to change a datebase to be read only.

Youll need to ask your host to ensure that permissions (read/write) are set up correctly for that folder. You can try "import" of the database through FP2000 and this may solve the problem.

I hae full permissions to the site plus I have imported the datebase into fp2000 and it still does not work.

Hi there, you may have full permissions to the site, but that does not mean that the internet guest account has write permissions to the database directory. If you are the host, right click the directory the database is in and click the permissions tab, and check to see if the IUSR_machinename account has write permissions. If you are not the host, ask your host to set the directory the database is in for write permissions. What most hosts do is make a directory under the root of the web with write permissions for databases. This is the safest place for a database to go. If it is not under the web root, make sure the directory it is in is not browsable. To test, try entering the URL of the database in your browser. For instance http://www.myweb.com/fpdb/mydatabase.mdb If your browser then asks if you would like to save this file to disk, ask your host to disable browsing of that directory. All the best Vince ------------------ Internet Business Solutions S.L.(Spain)
