Please take a look at this website. This is very new and my first time I have ever attempted such a thing. Did this as a volunteer for Hospice. The site is www.wrtc.com/sshhc
Thanks for looking.

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the Forums! :)

I' m not a website designer, just someone here to learn who has been trying to get educated over the past few years.

I looked at your site with IE 6.0, resolution at 800 X 600 and connection speed of 28.8 on 56K.

(1) No scroll bars and extremely fast load, even with the images. Not a comment I normally make considering my connection speed. Thumbnails also worked with fast load. Good job and thanks for allowing me a fast review!

(2) Navigation bars for pages.
You have a back button but, with the exception of: http://www.wrtc.com/sshhc/sakakawea_hopsice.htm ,no navigation bars to keep the viewer moving forward through your site. As a suggestion, consider them for all pages.

(3) http://www.wrtc.com/sshhc/Volunteers_hospice_is_supported_b.htm
Something I' ve learned here. Don' t bring your visitor to a page under construction. Just don' t link to it until there is information to share.

(4) Addresses and e-mail contact.
You' re attempting to contact an audience using the Internet. I see no e-mail addresses listed, nor is there postal or telephone contact information listed on the pages.

(5) http://www.wrtc.com/sshhc/
Instead of the links " To Home Health" and " To Hospice" , have you considered a general navigation bar to the entire site?

(6) Pages, in general, seem rather brief. They seem to need some fleshing-out as to why the center is different, special and deserves further reading of the site. (A comment not made lightly by someone who has created pages that should have been published as novels. :) )

(7) Look at your meta tags and other page aspects. There is a wealth of information here: http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/tt.asp?appid=12

I hope this helps. Again, thanks for the fast loads. Those of us out in the boonies appreciate them!

John

P.S.
Almost forgot - the color combination was extremely easy on these aging eyes.

Thanks for your insight. You have some very valid points that I have not thought of. Appreciate your advice/suggestions John. I will go over this sight again when I get some time (man these things take a lot of time) and redo some things and add some names and addresses.

I think it is a great start! Looks good.

Here are two small suggestions from me.

1. Center everything (tables are off a bit)
2. Your graphics are a bit on the low-end. I might bump up the quality and resolution of those. Your performance shouldn' t be affected too much.

Anyway, good luck!

There are a couple of things that stand out.

#1. The main title at the top of the page is a little jagged. Might want to soften it up a bit with antialias if possible.

#2. The middle section seems a little hard to read. Am I right in assuming that most of the individuals who would be interested in your site are between the ages of 35 and 70? If so, the colors would drive them crazy as they are hard to see. Something I learned from working at a hospital.

#3. Times New Roman(?) is a hard to read font on computer screens. You may want to try Arial, Verdana or Tahoma. It is easily readable on screen.

#4. Overall, a good start.

I like this site. Very nicely done...good choice of color. My only suggestion regards the email address. Make it a mailto address so that a click on it brings up the viewer' s email program.
