Charles W Davis -> Need a hand with forms. (9/13/2002 18:47:54)

I have several web sites hosted by http://www.minnesotashopper.com each with a form on the the pages listed below. As far as I can determine, all settings as to the Form Properties and Form Field properties for each are the samel. I have been trying for days trying to resolve this, along with the hosting company' s technician.

I would be grateful for any clues that resolve this.

Were the FPSE installed before you started using the webspace or after???

Just,

The hosting company provided on an IP address a Main Control Panel, where I installed the FPSE by clicking an Icon. This brings up a page the shows that the FPSE are not installed (if they are not), click a link and the FPSE are then installed.

Following the installation, I Published the site to the IP address. Once the URL was propagated throughout the WWW, I again published the entire site to the URL.

The FPSE may be removed and reinstalled in the same manner.

The same procedure on all three URLs.

I had that same problem a few months ago and this is what I did. Why it worked I have no clue.

I copied the code from the ' problem' page, entered it into a new page, saved the page to a different folder than the original one, published it, and then tested it. It worked.

I then deleted the ' problem' page and placed the other one into it' s folder. I tested it again and it worked fine. Why? Who knows.

That' s all I can think of right now. Worth a shot...better than losing customers.

Thanks folks,

I followed all of the suggestions. Unfortuately, to no avail.

I finally went to the Main Control Pane and removed the FPSE, waited the 10 minutes as instructed and then reinstalled them. Then (I beleive this to be the important difference from pior exersizes), I Published using the Publish All Pages... option.

The problem has been resolved for both problem sites.

Darren,

About the only thing that I am sure of is that the FP Server Extensions must be installed correctly.

First, check with your hosting company to make sure they are installed. If they are, ask them to uninstall and reinstall. That is what cleared my problem.

The topic of creating forms is too large to be covered in this forum. The topic consumes 29 pages in my Official Microsoft FrontPage 2000 Book Microsoft Press, 1999 ISBN 1-57231-992-5

I noticed on the minuteman foundation page that the startspan was ommited for the form but it is on the anthemwebs page. Without the startspan, I' m not sure the form can find the URL specified in U-File= statement.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/fp2ksdk/html/attributesonwebbotpseudotag.asp

You might try it. Good luck.

Stan,

Thanks for the info. I' m not sure what the article was telling me. That is probably because all three forms are working now.

Therefore, this issue is resolved.
