Could you look at my site? I think it is basically ok, but I know that it doesn' t look completely right. Too much white and all. Well, I will leave the suggestions to you all. Please be specific about how to make changes, as I am an amatuer at this.

I like the site, but I' m weird about the Times font. I perfer an Ariel or even Verdana. That' s my first " gripe" .

The ONLY other thing I noticed that was a bit quirky, was on the " contact me" page. The font/paragraph spacing was a bit off. You might want to buffer your table with 5 pixels each way.

I bet you have a really bog monitor don' t you ;o)

Try making the photo smaller, and moving it below your headline.

Headline(title etc)
Links Left to right across the top
Text with photo in the top left corner.

I' ve done my usual Jpeg Example and looking at your work so far its comfortably in your reach

Thank you for the replies. I fixed the contact us page, I hope. Please let me know. Anyway, I am starting to use more ariel fonts and such, so that may look more pleasing.
For the 2nd post, I don' t know if that is just how the jpeg came out, but it is way too squished and I like the picture on the left. I also, am not crazy about that top navigation bar. I had it in there before, but felt it changed the atmosphere of the page. I will look at putting it back in somehow.
Well, please keep looking and suggesting!
Thank you.

Hi again webbedfeet,

Exhausted after the primary? Getting ready for any run-offs, or just waiting ' til Nov?

I have some of the same comments as I did for your other site.

The text throughout the site in many places, imho, is too large. And the links are humongous! [:' (]

The photo of the candidate is very large. I' d make it smaller. Consider placing her name under it. Remember:

NAME RECOGNITION! NAME RECOGNITION! NAME RECOGNITION!

Reinforce this at the site. Folk will not be looking for a picture when they go into the voting booth. Besides, the photo need not be gobbling up so much precious page " real estate."

Also, the bio is very long. I' d consider changing the layout so visitors don' t have to scroll down so much.

On the bio page it says " Vote in the 2000 election!" I think she' s a little slow in getting the word out. :)[:j]

I see that you' ve taken the advice that was given about your font size, but I think you may have gone a bit too small now. I noticed that you still have the " Dear Neighbor" block in Times New Roman, was that intentional?

Why don' t you move the photo up next to the banner on the left side. I think the photo is a bit on the large size, you could shrink it down a bit and still get the same impact. If you click on the photo and drag the corner, it will shrink proportionately. After you resize, click the resample button in the drawing toolbar to sharpen the image.

You may also want to shrink the stars graphic down a bit so your navigation will be more readily available without scrolling down so much. I' d also remove the table borders and make the navigation table smaller.

One more thing, since some of your pages are rather long, it might help if you repeat the navigation horizontally at the bottom of the pages so people don' t have to scroll back up to the top to go to the next page.

Just a few suggestions.
Swirl :)

Thanks all. I changed the font on the home page, and the picture. The vote in 2000 general election at the bottom of the bio is not telling people TO vote it is telling people what the vote was in 2000, ie how many votes she and her opponents got.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks again.

Yes, I' d suggest you improve the wording, something like " Votes in the 2000 General Election" or " Total (or Final) Votes in the 2000 General Election." VOTE could very well be understood as an action verb, not a plural noun as is intended.

It wouldn' t hurt either to clarify the statistics by adding the word " votes' to the numbers. eg. 19,328 votes, etc.

Believe me, not everyone will read the text under this boldfaced subtitle but they may see the subtitle. In my opinion, as written, the wording is wide open to misinterpretation. If it were my campaign, I would not want to chance it!

Courtney,

I would make a little increase in the table size so that all navigation appears the same in IE 6. NN7 and Opera 6 had no problem with the site.
However, in NN 4.76 the home page falls apart.
