Navigating throughh Includes - 4/17/2001 20:20:00
Please help! I'm going nuts! I have a second level navigation scheme that I want to add to pages through an include page. I've created my own graphic which is in a table in the page to be included. I've added hotspots to it there to link to the appropriate pages. When I view it my home page (with this graphic included) however, the hotspots have shifted and only one of them has an active link. Is my underlying thinking wrong? I could let FP do the nav bar for me except I don't want to have just text, and I don't want to have to use a theme because I've got other things going on throughout the web (plus I've learned thru this forum to avoid themes). What should I do? Thanks for your help!

Is this published? If so a URL where we could see the problem would help.I don't know where you got the idea that there is an anti theme feeling here - perhaps it was the use of the themes that come with FP that you mean? These are a bit hackneyed and overused is the only problem, it is not a problem with the concept of themes per se. Using a theme can be a very efficient way to create a web and you can readily modify the blank theme that comes with FP to suit your needs. Using the navigation bar options it should then be quite possible to include a sub navigation menu as you describe. ------------------ Katherine InKK Design LinKKs - Kilkenny's Online Magazine -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* "Dogs have owners, cats have staff!"

Thanks for your advice. I don't have a URL yet, I'm playing around with some different options. You're right, the FP themes are so overused and that's why I wanted to avoid them, I want a different look. I didn't realize FP has a blank theme, so I'm guessing I can do as much or as little with it as I want? That's great! I'll give this a try; sounds like it'll do the trick for me. Many thanks!

Now that I think about it, though, I really don't want to have to learn all about themes. I like the graphic I have created as my image map and would like to make it work. Is my strategy wrong? I thought I should establish the hotspots on the page where I've inserted the graphic, and then include that page wherever I want that nav bar to appear. In theory it makes sense, but why are the hotspots acting funny on the regular pages? I really really really need some help on this! Thanks.
