Formatting Dorked Publishing From Server - 9/21/2002 18:27:09
Hi,

I' ve got a web site for my National Guard unit at:

http://www.agd.state.tx.us/49_division/

It' s on a Win2K server and has been for awhile. I recently changed hard drives on my PC so I tried publishing the site from the server down to my hard drive for further updates. When I did so, and opened the site on my hard drive with FP2002, it looked fine. However, if I browse the site on my hard drive in a browser, it' s all dorked up. Missing images, no borders, scrambled text layout, you name it.

I tried republishing to another Win2k server from the actual website and it was dorked up on the other server also.

Anyone have a clue what may be causing this? The actual site works fine, but this means I can' t make another copy on my hard drive to make changes.

when viewing it on your pc are you opening up explorer and then browsing to it? if so it will be dorked up because your site links are relative to the file structure a web server not a disc drive.

if you want it to show correctly on your hard drive you need to install IIS and publish the site and view it as http://localhost

as for the other server make sure all your links are correct for the way that server is set up. i say this because i don' t know if your using absolute or relative links.

Hi,

I' m viewing it via browser on my local hardrive, but running IIS on a W2k server.

It' s weird that within FrontPage, everything is fine - shared borders, etc. Once viewed outside FP it' s a mess - no borders, missing images etc.

recalculate the hyper links on the server side.
