Please chech color, font, use of borders - 9/23/2002 20:22:44
http://www.StatisticalSoftware.com

This is an index page only site. I' ve been tinkering with colors, layout, etc.

It will be part of a network of sites, each focused on a particular category of software/applications. Certain functions will be centralized, such as message boards, news, etc.

For the moment I' m just interested in comments re: color, font selection, use of borders, layout with bullets, the absence of a border for the right column gray area, the use of a 1 pixel border for the bottom.

HERE' S ANOTHER QUESTION: For the life of me, when I employ the " style" button on the table properties dialogue and attempt to set borders to " only sides" (not top and bottom) I can never get it to work. What am I doing wrong or is there no way to get this to work?

Thanks for you input.

I think the colors work well together. And maybe it' s just me but there seems to be something missing...I just can' t put my finger on it. Well, maybe I should just wait until you finish it, huh?

As far as the border question, I have no clue.

Layout is nice; though I felt assaulted by so many words (but then again, I' m certainly not the target audience...) It just seems like a LOT of information on one page to me. But that' s only my opinion.

I like the fonts and colors, though I think maybe an image for the heading--in a dignified font (like Copperplate) would be nice; a few small and elegant graphics pertaining the the subject matter would be helpful to break up all the words a little...

Oh, and for the borders--first of all, if you' re using the Style button, beware that Netscape doesn' t recognize the border the way it' s supposed to. EVERY TIME I have used the Style button to get a nice border (I like the double border myself) Netscape reduces it to a silly little box UNDERNEATH the table!!!

Now, as to why the border isn' t showing up--let me see if I remember this correctly. You must first set the table properties border (at least this was what I did to get it to work) by right clicking in the cell then choose table properties. Set the border color to whatever you want it to be, then set the size to 0. THEN choose the Style button.

However, after my last experience with my website I have vowed never to use that blasted Style button again, because Netscape doesn' t recognize it! Anythign I do with that button is ignored when viewing in netscape. It totally ticks me off...
