Server Problems - 9/23/2002 22:53:57
I think this is all my hosts problem, but am unsure!?![:j] None of my ASP pages work, but all my HTML ones do. I have done some searching and am coming to the conclusion this is a driver problem? What specifically could have changed to cause this and is there anything I can do on my side to fix this or is it all the host company' s problem? I have had this site up for almost a year now and no problems until recently. I have had several problems of recent with the host company and am about to change- this might be the last straw if I find out it is them, this has been going on for a week now!! Gail PS. The specific error I am getting is the following: (Friendly)500 Internal Server; (Unfriendly) Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.

This certainly sounds like a server problem. Either the message means what it says, you are out of disk space on your account, or possibly some permissions were changed that prevent the web server from writing data where it needs to. One culprit that leaves the server doing HTML ok but no ASP is running the IIS Lockdown Tool on the server. There is no reason for the asp pages to just stop working on their own, something must have changed on the server.

I know I haven' t exceeded space on the database - only around 1M. Also, new users signed up between the two occurences of this happening. Could they be running the IIS Lockdown Tool on the server once a week? daily? It just happened to not be working last Sunday and then again yesterday! Gail

I don' t know that much about the IIS Lockdown tool other than it has more than once stopped a web server from running asp pages. It' s not something that is run regularly, or even more than once, and probably isn' t the culprit if your problem comes and goes. Review your asp pages, perhaps you have some bad code that hangs up your website. If you do an infinite loop in VBS code you can cause your site to hang, and your web needs to be stopped and restarted to clear out the problem. These are all just guesses, of course :) Your host should be able to help you figure this out.
