Swish and URL' s - 9/25/2002 11:11:42
Hey Gang

Having one of those moments when you forget how to do something pretty basic. In Swish when you want to create a link to a page in a site you are working on, don' t you just need to put the page and no target etc?

I put in text, click action, click on release, type the name of the page (in this case what is.htm) under goto and save movie.

Works great when previewing on browser, but get page not found message after publishing.

If you actually have a space in your file name (per your example: what is.htm) you might have a little better luck with Swish if you take that out, or substitute an underscore.

Still having trouble with this.........

Guess it has been to long since I did Swish. If you want to create a link to another page within your web, do you need to put anything in the target section or just the page name?

Have tried to just put page name and also the entire link as if it were on a different web i.e. http://web address/page.htm and still getting unknown page error.

Think I am losing my mind. please help

Use Add Action > On Press > Goto URL

Don' t use On Release... On Press works better...

Then use pagename.htm

You may want to convert the text to a button so you can set " rollover" like properties for it...

With the text selected click the " convert to button" button on the toolbar. This breaks the button into 4 states: up, over, down, and hit.

The Up state is it' s normal state, over is when the mouse hovers over it, down is on click, and the hit state is simply a placeholder that lies behind the text... acting as the button " border"

Hope that helps!

If you are still getting an error, then it sounds like the swf file and the page you want to link to are not in the same location. Be sure you put any folder name in the path if they are in different locations.

Do you have this on a server where we could take a look?
