standard pixel chart? - 9/26/2002 13:41:49
Is there a standard pixel chart that web developers use? For example, the width of a header banner at the top of a page, the width of a column in the left hand side for a vertical navigation bar, the width of a main page for content, etc...?

thank you,
Jeremy Boone

Hi,

Welcome to OutFront!!!

If I understand the question correctly not that I have seen.

I try to use the sites stats and revamp the site accordingly. Like on one site that I do most users are at current browsers but NN 4.X checks in at 36% (couldn' t believe it at first) with resolution settings of 800X6000, 640X480 has fallen off of that sites radar. All things being equal though I have another site where 1024X768 is the standard. NN 4.X shows up as less than 1% (Yeah).

In my head it all depends on the sites audience and always designing/improving your sites based on that.

Also don' t forget about color depth, it can really make you site look funky pertaining to graphics of the sites design.

Brian

with resolution settings of 800X6000,

Is that one of those new high-definition shaped monitors?! :)

I think Reflect means 800 X 600.

Nah, typos in the eworld don' t count, imho. The only reason I even pointed it out is because Jeremy Boone is a new member and we' re not aware of his experience level.

Personally, I' m still looking for that setting in my control panel.

Hey, man, I' m still at the stage that if you or another Outfront moderator told me to jump out of the window in a reply to my question, I probably would. I have a great respect for authority figures.

Well, actually, I' m So FL and live in a one story house. :)

_gail,

Get out your checkbook. Make payable to....:).

No offense taken with your post. I re-read mine because of it and nearly busted a gut laughing.

Tech support call..

customer: CS rep, I read on the web some guy sets his video to 800X6000. Why can' t my brand new video card reach that level.

SCR: Sir you must be mistaken...

I' m sorry I digress.

I sent the check but it was returned.

Gee, I hope no other moderators read this. I' ll never be able to post another question at outfront. :)

I' m thinking about changing my username.
