" Modified By" substitution reflects publisher? - 9/27/2002 9:07:57
In a shared border I try to show the name of the last modifier of the page. I do so by inserting the Substitution Last Modified By. After saving te page shows the accurate name in the browser.
However after PUBLISHING the web al pages show the name of the publisher, not the name of the author anymore.

Is there any work-around to change this point-less feature to a useful one?

Publishing is considered an " update" so the publisher will always be the last person to update a page or file...

If it' s pointless, don' t bother with it. It will only congest your site...

If you ever think of a good use for a feature like this, that' s the time to worry about making it work.

In the mean time... try looking into script languages like ASP or PHP. If you' ve never looked into web " programming" before you' ll be pleasantly surprised at what you can accomplish!
