Problem publishing:( - 9/30/2002 14:29:23
Hi, I' m having a problem publishing...
FP extensions are showing to be enabled, my host says they are
but when I try to publish says: Server does not have FP extensions installed.
My host checked...says they were, same message.
So he gave me a decidcated ip addy to publish to, and it
came back, make sure web server name is valid and your proxy
are set correctly, web server may be temporarily out of service.

My host is looking at it again, but does anyone have any ideas
what might be going on?

I' m using FP2000 and as for the proxy settings, don' t know what
they' re talking about, but I' ve published to another host without
any problems.
TIA

Hello shan,

This is usually something on their end with the Extensions being configured properly. Just to be on the safe side if you go to Tools > Page Options and click on the compatibility tab make sure that the " Enabled with Microsoft Frontpage Server Extensions" box is checked.

Best of Luck,

Thank you...I checked and they are enabled, just one thing on the servers in the box, should Microsoft server or custom be enabled, right now it' s set on custom...I just can' t remember if I' ve changed this recently or whether it' s always been like that.

This seems to be my yearly hiccup with fp, I' m moving hosts and have just found out I can' t publish to the new host until the dns is updated even to a dedicated ip addy.

My last host was fantastic, he moved my sites over to the new place and all I had to do was change the dns and wait a couple of days before publishing anything new, but he' s not around now and I can' t work out how he did it!

ah fpage, I' ve a real love hate relationship happening:)

Ahhh yes. The DNS probably has just not propagated (is that the right word, come on Spell Check) yet. Something else you could try is going to My Computer | Web Folders and delete the old web folder and then try to create a new one.

Let us know how its going,
