Smile4Bill -> TOC and alignment (4/17/2001 14:44:00)

I am building a table of contents and I can't keep my page numbers lined up. How do I make 'em straight?
Thanks,
Bill

Put them in a table and align right?

BUT, by doing that it will cause the topics to be out of alignment. The cause of this alignment is due to the larger characters such as m and w both which are used throughout the TOC. I have tried to split them up by putting the page numbers in a table and leaving the other text out. Upon doing that, which solved one problem, created another in which the horizontal spacing was off. Now, I didn't really want to use any tables because of this problem, but will if need be. I now need to know how to align the numbers with the text equally both horizontal and vertical.
Thanks for your prompt reply,
Bill

Use a two column table - page numbers in the left column, aligned right and topics in the left column aligned left.

You will need to have at least two columns, numbers in the left cell and text in the right. You can use rows if you need them. You may need to split cells further, stack tables, or nest tables if you have subdivisions.

You can use cell padding and/or spacing as needed, too.
