OH PLEASE HELP - 10/6/2002 17:26:58
I have just uploaded my 1st site using frontpage publisher (having used cuteFTP without any problems for other sites) I published to the site address www.crowdcontrolexecutive.com all seemed to go really well then to my horror :) I found an extra banner & table had appeared on the front page then I realized that there were two front pages www.crowdcontrolexecutive.com & www.crowdcontrolexecutive.com/index
I had named the front page ' index' should I have named it www.crowdcontrolexecutive.com ?
PLEASE could someone take a look @ the site & advise me.

Hi amavrick and welcome to the forums.

I tried your link and can' t see any " extra" banners or anything.:) I also tried the " crowdcontrolexecutive.com/index" link and was informed that the page didn' t exist. It doesn' t seem that you have a problem from my browser.

Viewed in IE 6, Opera 6 and NS 6

I did what you suggest above and all looks fine to me too in both IE and Netscape.

I had a look at the source and cannot see anything amiss.

Note, I had a look at the source - it was pretty irritating to have my right click disabled but it will not stop me from doing anything I like at the site. You might consider removing it.

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing - also in what browser and on what platform?

Nope, I' m still not seeing a problem. Have you cleared your temporary internet files/cache? Perhaps your seeing something that isn' t there anymore.:)

Ditto.

If you use AOL to view your site, be especially sure you empty it' s cache, refresh your page, sign off, then sign on again.

Don' t forget either to empty the temp folder where FrontPage temp files are stored when you upload. I' d also do a Search/Find using *.tmp and delete all those files too.

What is it about your source code that you need to conceal?

Hello,

the reason I wished 2 conceal the source code was this:

Note, I had a look at the source - it was pretty irritating to have my right click disabled but it will not stop me from doing anything I like at the site. You might consider removing it.

Huh?

Because abbeyvet offered you the very good advice of getting rid of the childish " no right click" trick? There' s nothing special about the code to start with, so why do you want to hide it?

Gil,

My mistake I had thought I was being advisted 2 remove source code to prevent vistors being able 2 tamper with the site.

The ' No right click' is to deter visitors from getting copys of the pic' s of the
door staff, I realize visitors can still just press ' print screen' 2 copy.
