bravenet.com - Any Info On? - 4/17/2001 15:20:00
Does anyone have any experience with www.bravenet.com ? I'm thinking about using their password protection option since the server for my URL does not support sub-domains. Thanks

Hi JohnI've never tried any of the Bravenet apps. Have you considered Spooky Login? <-----------------------------It's over there. He offers a free version for you to try and the full version is very reasonable. Of course it does require NT, so if you're on a different platform, this wouldn't work for you. We've used Bravenet.com on a few sites. The only problem we have seen is their servers are no the most reliable. There is a lot of down time.

Hi Swirl, Thanks for the reply. This is a personal website on rootsweb.com. I'm trying to protect e-mail addresses for alumni from e-mail reading robots. Rootsweb does not support FP98 server extensions so I've had to dumb-down the site I transferred from tripod.com.

I haven't used their password protection option, but I have used several of their services on a couple of my sites and have been pretty happy with them. They did have a problem with downtime, but since they recently added servers, that seems to have gotten a lot better.Cindy

Hi John,If all you want to do is "shield" peoples e-mail address's then check out this converter. You put in the e-mail address and it converts the e-mail address to uni encoded address's. I have used this for a few sites. http://www.fantomaster.com/fantomasSuite/mailShield/famshieldsv-e.cgi Hope this helps, Brian ------------------ Work hard, play fair, stay sane [This message has been edited by GWJ (edited 04-20-2001).]
