sending form info from asp (is broken) - 4/24/2001 14:36:00
I cannot send my form info to an email using the .ASP. Sending to email works fine when visitor fills the form himself on an .htm page, but when I create an .asp to recieve the info from another .asp using a script, and the vistor comletes the page with name address etc. and submits it the email does not get sent, the confirmation page does not appear. When using the same setup for an .htm page it all works fine. Is it related to the form validation file it is using? (I know nothing about that). The .asp's URL is http://www.un-point-cest-tout.atfreeweb.com/frpages/OrderForm.asp. the .HTM's URL is http://www.un-point-cest-tout.atfreeweb.com/frpages/OrderForm.htmThanks

Unfortunately its an issue with some webbots not working on an asp page. Its a known problem, and hopefully it will be sorted in the next version.....
It is possible to script an asp solution that uses asp email, depending on what your host has available.------------------

I have some documentation on useing CDONTS. I will ask my host, Do you have any opinion about using this. I found this in a Microsoft suport services white paper writen by Jim Cheshire published 10/10/2000. If CDONTS can be used with my isp then I will try it.Thanks for all your help. ------------------

Most people prefer using a different type of email component. CDO is not the best.
Most hosts have other asp mail options such as JMail, ASPEmail, ASPMail etc.All are worth looking at, but ultimately, unless your host wishes to install otheres, you are stuck with what they heve ![]("http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/ubb/frown.gif")

What does FP 2000 use as protocol when sending info from form to email? Just curious
