First off, why are you running a site off an NAS? I' d guess because you have it configured as mirrored drives? Still, not the best choice, since most don' t have a redundant power supply, poor cooling and they' re usually IDE drives. If you have big files (like AutoCAD drawings or something), just use the NAS as a file server, and run the web part off a real server. An administrator should open the site on the NAS in FP, and set permissions under TOOLS-->Security. This will limit the people who can browse and author the site.
