I am using FrontPage 2000.
I have 2 forms on my site www.crowdcontrolexecutive.com
B4 I published the site I installed FrontPage Extensions from the control panel provided by my hosting company ( www.brython.com ).
In FP when I choose the form settings in form properties & click ' OK' I get this error message:

This form is being created on a Disk-Based Web or the FrontPage Server Extensions have not been configured to send e-mail. Please direct your system administrator or Internet Server Provider to the instructions in
" Setting up E-mail Options on Windows" or " Setting Up E-mail Options on UNIX" in the Server Extensions Resource
Kit.
The 1st form doesn' t work @ all: http://www.crowdcontrolexecutive.com/contact%20us.htm
The 2nd form sends results 2 a text file & goes 2 the confirmation page but the fields results aren' t shown: http://www.crowdcontrolexecutive.com/recruitment%20opportunities.htm
both forms are set 2 send results 2 the same text file & 2 an email address + a confirmation page.
I have tryed uninstalling the FP extensions from the control panel, clearing the cache & FP temp files on my PC then reinstalling the FP extensions then publishing again.
Do I need 2 configure the server extensions to deliver the email to an email transport? There isn' t an option on the control panel 2 do this.
I just can' t suss out why these forms won' t work [&:]
PLEASE can someone advise.

Yes, you need to locate the Server Extensions Administration program. In windows XP it' s found in Control Panel - Administrative Tools.

Again in XP, when the Server Extensions Administration program is open, right-click on the web server and you' ll find settings for your FP email.

I think the process is somewhat different in other Windows/Web Server configurations, and I have no idea about email forms and disk-based webs.

I have windows NT on my PC & my site hosting account type is UNIX Viirtual server. Do I need 2 use a Server Extensions Administration program on my PC or hosting control panel or both?

Hello there,

I' m getting warmer............. I' ve found the Server Extensions Administration program on my PC & got 2 the setting & was able 2 fill in the ' SMTP Mail Server field only I don' t know what is ment by the fields ' Contact Address' & ' Web Server Mail Address' .

PLS can someone advise.

Just ignore this, it won' t ever work on a disc based web, it should work when published. You do not need to do any configuring of extensions, they should already be configured on your server if they are installed.


One thing I would suggest trying is removing the spaces in your file names.

You have called them

contact us.htm

and recruitment opportunities.htm

which shows up as

contact%20us.htm

and recruitment%20opportunities.htm

Try using contact_us.htm and recruitmen_opportunities.htm

I do not know if this is the cause of the problem but it certainly could be.



I am not really a great expert on FP forms, which I hardly ever use, so if that is not the answer I am not sure what is.

Your sugguestion 2 remove the spaces in the file names was very helpful in making the site look more pro [:)] but hasn' t made any diffrents 2 my form problems [:(]
I am completely as a loss as 2 what it is I' m doing wrong [:(]

does your host use sendmail or smtp?

also your recruitment form isn' t doing any validation. i was allowed to send a blank form. you may want to consider validating your fields prior to the form being submitted.

I am now very confused as 2 what I should have set up where in regard 2 FP Server Extensions B4 uploading my form pages [>:]
My site host account type has a UNIX Virtual Server, I installed FP Server Extensions from my account control panel B4 uploading my site. Should I also have a copy of FP Server Extensions on my PC? if so as my PC is win NT & my server UNIX which ver of Extensions should I have on my PC?

I am new to OutFront but I am very good with forms, particularly FrontPage forms. I tried to check your form out but you have right click disabled. Maybe you could include your form HTML in your followup post and I will take a look. Be sure to include start <Form> and end </Form> tags.

doesn' t matter if right click is disabled. file > save as > open in notepad.
