404 Error File not Found After Picture Compression - 10/16/2002 1:15:06
Hello I,m Bob and This is my 1st Post, My Problem : Hyperlinks from thumbnails to the large photo, file not found. page with problem http://www.ctamo.com/kenosha2002pg2.htm The file is there on the server and can be opened through fp2000. What I did to cause this mess: Site was up and working, but ran out of room, so I deleted the large files on the server through Front Page, then compressed the photos with MS Image composer and saved them local with the same name. Then republished the site. NG The last thing I tried last night was to fully republish the site completely still NG . Any Ideas? Thanks in advance . Bob

Welcome to OutFront, BWAMX! My question is this. The files are looking for the pics in your root directory (www.ctamo.com/) as is shown below: src=" holiday_inn_waterfront_small.JPG" I was wondering if they are located in a different folder or sub-folder such as: src=" images/holiday_inn_waterfront_small.JPG"

Seventh, The files are located in the root dir. The files are on the server, as they show up when I open the web in Front Page or IE .The files can then be opened up from there. So I know they are not corrupt. Bob

Hi, Your images are there. It is a casing issue. Your links end with .JPG when the image name is .jpg. Must be on Apache server as they are case sensitive on file names. Brian

Reflect, On the other two pages some of the files have the extension in uppercase as well, but for some reason they show up too. I was going to make that same suggestion but it does not seem to apply. Seventh

Well guys it does, I changed all the hyperlink file name .ext to .jpg lowercase and they work fine! THANKS A Lot. I' ve been stareing at his for 2wks now! I just found this fourm last night, and I guess I' ll be reading thisone too, as I follow 4 or 5 automotive fourms also. Yes I know it' s on an Apache server so I guess it makes a differance. Thanks again , time to update and rework my site so I' ll probably be posting again. BOB

Glad you got it working. Still can' t figure out why some showed up and others did not. Anyway, stick around.

Hi, Didn' t look that deep myself. I just looked at the first instance and did not go on, strange. Maybe the others were opposite (upper case in the link and lower on the ext.)? Brian
