Actually - three questions - 4/18/2001 20:32:00
Please feel free to split this up if you prefer.

1. How can I ensure that one of your template based webs will print with no right hand side run-off on an A4 portrait page ?

2. Can you / do you supply template pages with 1 large centre scrollable frame and two smaller scrollable frames either side ?

3. How can I get variable callout or message panels on different pages of a template web that has these features ?

1. I can only suggest using a fixed pixel width table, what it would be exactly I am not sure. I recently saw something about 540 pixels but cannot remember if it was in relation to this or to Web TV.

It will make your page look odd on a lot od screens though - it is often better to provide a printer friiendly version of a page in addition to the normal one. There is a utility in QuickWorks that does this for you - have a look here: http://www.office-power.com/

2. None of the Outfront templates use frames. I would be very surprised if any ever did. They have too many disadvantages and too few advantages in most situations. Have a look here if you have not seen it before, it's an oldie but a goodie: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/9612.html

Though someone might be prepared to make a custom one for you if you were interested.

3. I am sorry but I have absolutely no idea what you mean. Can you point me to a template that has this feature and I might get the idea?

hello,

Thanks for your comments ... very useful.

As to my third question; apologies for being so unclear. One of the templates I have purchased is called 'globalbusiness'.

This has a column on the right hand side that can be edited in the 'includes' folder. But this puts the same material into the RH column on all pages in the site (or I think it does).

I have purchased other templates that do the same.

I would like to be able to vary the RH column content by page. Can this be done and have I missed something ?

I'm with you now

The point of making them includes was that you can update a single page and have that change update everypage on your site. You can just delete the include from any page you do not want it to appear on - highlight and delete.

Then if you wish you can add another page as an include page. So for example if you had 2 or 3 different things you wanted in the right, depending on the section of the site, you could create each as an include and include which ever you want on any given page.

The quickest way to do this is to create copys of the original include page - open it and save as say include2.htm and then include3.htm - then change the content to suit.

To insert a different one on any page, delete the current one and then clicl Insert>Component>Include Page and browse to the file you want included.

Alternately of course you can jsut delete the include form any page you wish and add your own content.

Katherine,

Thanks ... that's perfectly clear and solves the problem.
