Has anyone out there used Pixia? I got it free but haven' t had time to play around with it. I don' t do enough graphics stuff to justify dropping over $200 on PS. So will this freebie (if you' ve used it) program do the job okay? If not, any other inexpensive suggestions out there?

I have Adobe Photo Deluxe. How does it rank? Do you know anything about it? Thanks!

Thanks for the ADvice (as we' d say here in Texas). I' ll play around with PD a bit more. It just has so many steps to click through. And as far as what Gail did . . . ummm . . . nothing that I' m aware of. I just remember trying to figure out the inside joke you and Spooky (is that a seasonal name) had going on. Frankly, the whole thread cracked me up. A much needed distraction from my FP frustrations at the time. Have a great evening! bry

Little Man, quote:
Gail, you ROCK! Yes I know. We have two rocking chairs on our front porch and I really do ROCK quite well in either one of them. [:p] quote:
And as far as what Gail did . . . ummm . . . nothing that I' m aware of. Then, yup, I' m _gail, the infamous (and private) one. I' ve been called a lot worse in my life. quote:
I just remember trying to figure out the inside joke you and Spooky (is that a seasonal name) had going on. Frankly, the whole thread cracked me up. Some threads will do that to you. Here are two of my personal favorites: http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/tm.asp?m=92752&appid=&p=&mpage=1&key=snoopy&language=&tmode=&s=#92752 http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/tm.asp?m=92775&p=3&tmode=1 No inside joke between Spooky and me. When I started in these forums I asked a lot about online privacy and related matters. After some heated discussions, I emailed Spooky and asked him to change my username from gail to _gail with _ representing " hidden" as in private. My avatar at that time was a brown paper bag over a head, to which I added a blue bow. It was just for fun. Spooky apparently personalized some " titles" recently and bestowed upon me the title " _private member." I love it! quote:
I' ll play around with PD a bit more. It just has so many steps to click through. The " Get & Fix" photo button will walk you through basic stages of image enhancement. Though somewhat tedious, it will help you learn the program step by step. But you don' t have to use all those steps and stuff. For example, via the File > Preferences menu, you can turn off the " seasonal sharing" and " assistant drawer." More importantly, click on the " Advanced Menus" button at the left bottom of the screen to expand your list of menu options along the top of the page. You will be able to access features directly. The Help menu provides some very good info. Glad you like PDF writer! I use it frequently. infamous _gail

BTW - Gail. Are you a teacher (avatar)? If so, your students are lucky to have one with such a great sense of humor. [:p]

Thanks Little Man, I am fortunate to have inherited a bit of humor from my dad. The humor at Outfront is great. Yes, I am an art educator though haven' t been a classroom teacher for many years. I was a public education activist for a long time and also served 12 years as an elected school board member in one of the largest school districts in the U.S. I' m now an early retiree and give private lessons teaching newbies how to use a computer. I also mentor a middle school student on campus. So you can see I love teaching. And I love to learn. How' s it going with PhotoDeluxe? You didn' t mention what type of graphic work you plan on doing. gail

Oh, I hope to do as little graphic work as possible. Not that I' m not interested or have no desire to learn, more because I have a pregnant wife, new job, 16-month old baby and new program (FP) to learn! There are just so many hours in a day. But I am learning that I need to get familiar with graphics so I can better work with photos, create/edit logos, etc., etc. Really, Web development is a total hobby for me. I have a family site (poorly in need of an update) @ www.stonefamilycentral.com, a company site @ www.servpro-ofparkcities.com and a site for our babysitting co-op @ http://pages.sbcglobal.net/stonefam/stonefam . I do all of these in my spare time, which is usually once my family has gone to bed. Until then, they require (and deserve) every ounce of my attention. Needless to say, I get little sleep. But I' m finding that pretty common in this forum! Anywho, probably more info than you needed. That' s great about the education activism thing. I have always maintained that educators are under-appreciated and under paid to a horrific degree. And with two little ones up and coming, education is becoming a much more important component of our life. HAIL TO THE GREAT EDUCATORS! [:p]
