wakeboarder72 -> any and all suggestions are welcome...thanks! (10/29/2002 22:02:08)

Thanks for having a look. A friend asked me to do this site for him: a local production and multimedia company. Only the front page is up and functioning right now. One problem I do need help with is getting the " Search" links (to google, yahoo, etc) to open in a new window. I know the regular tag for that, but it' s a javascript menu bar, and so I' m not sure if there' s a way to throw a tag in there for a blank/new window for the links. Anyways, thanks for checking it out, at http://64.127.84.12/HiddenImage (may snag for a moment upon loading....it' s loading a windows media player with video on the front page)...

Thanks again,

wake

i' m not sure everyone will like the autoload video - I did.

if it were me, i' d make more use of flash for this site as its a media production co. But thats just me.

good job - let us know when its finished

Hi,

It took forever to load. I am on a T1.

I was tempted to bail when the bar said " hidden image" I thought it was something sneaky until I waited and saw it is the name of the site. [:@]

I would definitely make the Windows movie a menu option. What if the viewer is only on a 28.8, or even a 56k. I also jump to vendor sites all the time simply to ge the phone number, thus waiting/watching a movie that I have seen before would really be a turn off. Like listening to a 4 minute voice mail before you can leave the message[&:]

hope this helps

I really liked the overall look and feel. But, I don' t have enough patience to sit and wait for the video to load. Streaming would be a better solution for you since media is your line of business.[;)]

The continuous looping of your animations is annoying...

but I like the look of the site!

thanks all for the comments so far....

tteriffic- i thought the way i had the page loading was streaming...where you only load part of the video before it starts playing for the visitor, then, loads more as the visitor is watching...do i have this streaming concept all wrong? also, the video should not be playing automatically upon loading of the page. the user has the option of hitting the play button. at least that' s the way i tried to make it work.

thanks again for any remarks,

wake

I' m no expert, but I just see in your source code that you are using Macromedia:

PLUGINSPAGE=" http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" >

I use streaming on one of my sites and I place the movies on high bandwidth servers at www.datapipe.com. That way the movies load quickly and play all at once. Not creep in, start, stop, start again, stop and so on.

You could probably teach me a thing or two about Flash.

tterrifc,
hey, thanks for the info. i' m checking out that datapipe.com site. do you have the 49.95/month service, for the streaming? also, do you have any sites you could post the url to, so i could see the difference? not sure if my friend will want to go with the 49.95/month service, but if he sells enough of the videos (hard copy) to cover it, who knows....

thanks again, and take care,

wake
