Importing an existing web - 5/14/2003 10:17:12
I have jus installed frontpage 2003 on a new pc & tried to import my existing site into it, worked OK to a point, BUT: I seem to have missed some pages & also the shared borders are wrong (I seem to have doubled up on the top border!). Deleted it & tried again but with same result, any suggestions please? Old site is in 2000. Thanks, John.

You say " imported" ? The import function in FP is worthless - open the site and Publish it...

You would save it " into frontpage" - you save it to your hard drive. Open the site on the server then PUBLISH to a location on your HD

To open your site live, open FP and click FILE>>OPEN WEB and in the folder name window type in your URL including the " http" for example " http://www.yourdomain.com" .

You will be asked for your username and password. Then the site will open on the server which it resides on. Any modifications done here effect the site on the server.

Then select publish and put the file name on your computer where you want the webiste to be locaated. This will publish the website back to your computer. From then on you can do your edits in a normal fashion and publish in a normal fashion.
